Day after day, the line extends beyond sight. Only enough time in the day to process a handful. I'd complain about the forgers wasting my time, but they line my pockets better than the lawful ones. I could hardly survive if I had a soul; that lesson, I learned quickly. The job is done right, or my family starves.
Glory to Arstotzka.

Papers, Please
- The communist state of Arstotzka has ended a 6-year war with neighboring Kolechia and reclaimed its rightful half of the border town, Grestin.
Your job as immigration inspector is to control the flow of people entering the Arstotzkan side of Grestin from Kolechia. Among the throngs of immigrants and visitors looking for work are hidden smugglers, spies, and terrorists. Using only the documents provided by travelers and the Ministry of Admission's primitive inspect, search, and fingerprint systems you must decide who can enter Arstotzka and who will be turned away or arrested.
A grim and fascinating look at a Soviet-esque immigration checkpoint from behind the desk. Join us tonight at 9pm ET as we begin Papers, Please.

Capitalism, ho!
So, a couple weeks ago, after finishing Puzzle Agent 2 halfway through the timeslot, we began — and tonight, will continue — Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale. For those who missed the intro last time, this game puts you in the role of Recette, a young girl paying off her missing father's debts by operating an item shop in a town full of adventurers. Front Mission - Session 1
—Operation Briefing—
You are to depart under cover of night from Menasa, a city on Huffman Island which is under the jurisdiction of the Oceana Cooperative Union. Travel via a small submarine 30 kilometers along the coastline to reach the USN-controlled city of Fort Monus. Upon arrival, board the camoflauged ship and make your way to shore. You must then reconnoitre the enemy factory located in the Larcus district.
Due to the political tensions between our two countries, you are absolutely prohibited from engaging in any aggressive actions.
The year is 2090. Huffman Island, a disputed territory off the west coast of Mexico, is a hotbed of conflict. Though the First Huffman Conflict twenty years ago resulted in the division of the island between the Oceana Cooperative Union and the United States of the New Continent, skirmishes continued to break out between the opposing sides for some time. Now, Huffman Island knows an uneasy peace; though not actively at war, the OCU and the USN suspect it will not remain that way for long, and prepare for the coming conflict.
Join us tonight at 9pm ET as John begins this high-tech tactical RPG!

No Sleep till Scoggins
You may have noticed the blog post is going up later than usual. You know why? Because the show is starting later than usual! Ha ha, symmetry. The show will probably continue in this later timeslot for a while, which certainly has some distinct advantages: namely, since there's nobody following our timeslot, we won't have to cut scenes short! That's been frustrating on occasion, at least for me. It's not even a good cliffhanger to end like that.
So tune in tonight at 9pm ET as we continue — and probably conclude — Puzzle Agent 2!
Last time, following a lead from the mysterious Melkorka Teterdottir, we went to investigate the disappearance of Halldor in the forest. There, we encountered Edvard, who led us on a wild chase, eventually sending us tumbling down a hill. He got away, and left us lost...but what's this? A felled tree, with something glinting in its branches...what could it be? That mystery went unsolved, but tonight, answers will be had!

Lone Survivor - Session 2
First up, an important announcement: those of you who have been with us for a while know that our schedule moves back and forth based on the time of year (more specifically, based on regular obligations for most of our hosts). This week marks our return to the 7pm ET start time. If you come early, well, there won't be much to see.
So join us tonight at 7pm ET as we continue our terrifying journey in Lone Survivor! Last time, we managed to trap the giant creature in the lobby and make our way out of the apartment building. What horrors await us outside? Tune in and find out!

Lastly, another important announcement: we will be off next weekend. Barring unforeseen circumstances, we'll return on November 16th.

So Chilly...
Just arrived in Scoggins, Minnesota. Population, 754. Temperature...it's cold. And not much to look at. According to the Agency, there's some kind of situ-- incide-- THING going on at the local eraser factory. The whole plant has shut down.
There's a weird man staring at me.
Hopefully this won't be a big waste of time.
Tonight, we take a break from the imminent horror of Lone Survivor for the suspicion, doubts and uncertain trepidation of Puzzle Agent! Top FBI puzzle-solver Nelson Tethers is sent to Scoggins, Minnesota, to investigate the mysterious shutdown of a factory vital to the nation's well-being...but finds much more than he bargained for. With art by Graham Annable, and a story reminiscent of Twin Peaks and Fargo, Puzzle Agent feels at once welcoming and frightening.
Join us in this frozen, puzzle-solving mystery tonight at 6pm ET!

Lone Survivor - Session 1
Dear diary,
Since the outbreak started, I've tried to look after myself. A little better each day...the trouble is...
I don't know what's real anymore.
Lone Survivor is a retro-style survival horror game, and one of the standout titles in the genre from the last few years. After a zombie outbreak, the titular lone survivor grasps desperately at life and reality. Will he find a reason to struggle on? Or is his only solace in his own head?

Thomas Was Home Alone
Hello again, Internet! Sorry for missing last week's episode; I was sick, and didn't even have it in me to prop myself upright and play a game on air. (Really, probably more the fault of the prescription cough syrup. Knocked me out all weekend, pretty much.) But now I'm back, feeling mostly better, Brendan and Mabry are coming over, and we're going to beat two games tonight!
First up, the thrilling/inspiring conclusion to Thomas Was Alone — we picked this one up last time, thinking we could get through it in a single session, but fell just a little short. What lies in store for Jo, Sam, Paul and Team Jump? What could Grey be plotting? What about everybody else?
Next, we begin our Halloween programming with Home, a short but, by all accounts, tense and mysterious game. Awakened by a thunderstorm, you find yourself in a house that is not your own. Home adapts to its player and their choices, making no two plays quite the same. What sort of a story will we weave tonight?
Tune in tonight at 6pm ET and learn the answers to all these questions! Be ready to be moved, and to be scared. Probably in that order.

One-Off: Thomas Was Alone
This week is Brendan and Mabry's turn for filler before October programming begins! And, as luck would have it, we found a game that should take up exactly one episode: Thomas Was Alone. I have heard nothing but good things about this game, and we're all very much looking forward to finally playing it.
So tune in tonight at 6pm ET for this minimalistic (but surprisingly moving) puzzle adventure!

Filler Week - Gunpoint, pt. 2
Just as last year, when October rolls around, things start getting creepy around here. But it's not October yet, and two thirds of our rotation is open. There's not enough time to start something entirely new before then, so that means filler~!
You may recall a few weeks ago, after the incredibly brief final session of Chulip, we started playing Gunpoint to fill the rest of the time. We hadn't intended that to be an ongoing feature on here, but since we didn't beat it before, it's good to go for tonight. We'll be continuing from where we left off; hopefully, we still remember how to play the game.
Catch us tonight at 6pm ET, and follow the twisted web of conspiracy and espionage that is Gunpoint.

Final Fantasy XI: Dragging Chains
When last we left our adventurer heroes, we delved the depths of Pso'Xja to restore the power of Phoenix, and returned to discover that the Grand Duchy of Jeuno was preparing to launch an attack on Bahamut himself — moreover, that they were doing so without warning any of the other nations! Surely this would mean doom, and faster arrival of the apocalypse promised by the conqueror of the skies. Can Mondegreen, Mcthulhu, Tyriont and Swavely put a stop to this madness? Probably, but we can at least pretend like there's a little suspense!
Tune in tonight at 6pm ET and watch as the story of Final Fantasy XI: Chains of Promathia continues to unfold.

In other news, if you missed last week, you'll know that our first session of Chronicles of Mystara was also our last, as we beat the entire game in one session, with about 10 minutes to spare. Whoops.
Fortunately, we have lots of time to figure out what to do about that, as next week, we won't be here! I'll be attending Dragon*Con; if you'll be there too, keep an eye out for me. I won't have a costume or anything, so I won't stand out too much. Consider it a challenge, I'll be like Waldo.

Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara
Welcome to the D&D World!
This collection of Capcom arcade classics, Tower of Doom and Shadow Over Mystara, takes the beat-'em-up formula and kicks it up a notch with character classes, experience levels, a wide variety of items and magic, and a suitably epic narrative. They're a lot of fun, but they sure ate quarters in the arcade. Expect to see us die frequently, but in truly heroic fashion.
Join John, Melissa, and the rest of the regular crew for Chronicles of Mystara, starting this Saturday, August 17th, at 6pm ET!

Final Fantasy XI: The Continuing Adventures
Tonight at 6pm ET is our first session with Final Fantasy XI in regular rotation, rather than just as filler when nobody else could make it. It's been fairly popular when we've played it on here in the past, and, well, we're wanting an excuse to play more regularly.
If you were around for our last session, you may recall that I had to sign off in the middle of the fight in Mine Shaft #2716 — we were pushing the limits of our time slot, and didn't quite come out in time. So sorry to have left anybody hanging! We'll pick up tonight with the cutscene that follows that fight, and proceed onward from there.

Scribblenauts Unlimited - Session 2
It's been more than two months since we started Scribblenauts Unlimited as a last-minute substitution, but this is only our second session with it. Between the hiatus, schedule hiccups, and just really wanting to finally finish Chulip, there were delays. I can hardly remember what happened last time, so I can't really blame y'all for not remembering, either. I remember we created artception, turned a giant demon into a statue in the town square fountain, placated a troglodyte with football, rode a rocket-powered shoggoth, built a radon store, and used the Highlander in a recipe for a phoenix.
Yeah, this game is ridiculous and ridiculously fun. Join us tonight at 6pm ET as we continue our quest to save our sister from turning to stone!

Chulip: FINAL and ???
So, a few weeks ago on Throne of Games, we got to within 8 minutes of beating Chulip. 8 minutes, including ending credits. We timed it. So tonight, after weeks — maybe even months — of promising it, I guarantee we will be beating that game tonight.
But that leaves us with nearly the whole show leftover. Now, normally, that wouldn't be a problem, we'd just move on to our next game. However, I've hit a bit of a snag...
Y'see, in the move, it seems I've misplaced a piece of equipment, and one that's rather vital to our playing the next game I had planned, at that. So that game's off, and I don't have anything ready to go to replace it. I'm now in a mad dash to prepare something, but I don't yet know what that's going to be, and I'm running out of time. But we will have something!
Tune in tonight at 6pm ET for the finale of Chulip for real this time, and to find out what this mystery game will be! (Yeah, a mystery, way to spin it so it sounds intriguing, rather than incompetent.)

Throne of Games Goes Retro
In celebration of the Starmen.Net 8-Bit Funktastic Fest, Throne of Games presents two 2-player classics tonight: Bubble Bobble and River City Ransom. Games didn't have much story back then, okay?

Filler Fantasy XI
So, since this was going to be Brendan & Mabry's week, but they're out at SoonerCon right now, we'll be bringing you another session of Final Fantasy XI: Chains of Promathia. When last we left our heroes, we had returned from exploring the Northlands with Ulmia, searching for Prishe, and defeating the Snoll Czar. Chulip - Session 8 (really)
We're back! Did you miss us? Sorry to leave you hanging like that for so long, but hopefully, tonight, we can finally conclude Chulip! I mean, seriously, I don't think there's very much left. Tune in tonight at 6pm ET, and if we finish, expect an announcement of our next game!
Since it's been so long since I went on the interaction spiel, here's a refresher: TwitchTV has built-in chat, so you can talk to us while we play, but it kinda sucks. Fortunately, we have a chat bridge that connects to our primary IRC channel, #radiopsi on Thinstack. You can pop that open in your favorite client, use their browser-based client, or ours. Any of the above will get you in there live with us.
Expect gradual changes to our broadcasting venue over the next several weeks. Like I said in the last post, we moved! But we're still unpacking, and trying to find an optimal arrangement of furniture, so things probably won't stay 100% the same from show to show. Make a game of it or something, I dunno. :P

Filler Tonight, Live!
So, normally, we'd be starting an entirely new game tonight. However, since the next session with Brendan and Mabry is going to be more than a month away, it really doesn't make sense to start that now. So, that we may put off starting until after the hiatus, tonight, we will be continuing the game of FTL we began a few weeks ago after beating Alan Wake about an hour into the show...and we'll probably be starting over a couple more times because we die on the way.
We'll also be running without Daniel this week, which can only spell doom for us on this game.
Join us at 6pm ET for our repeated deaths! You know the drill with the links.

Graduation!
Tonight at 6pm ET, we will have an abbreviated episode of Throne of Games because Daniel is graduating from college! So we're gonna take off an hour early to go to his convocation.
But, in our remaining two hours, we're going to have a bit of fun with a one-off game, and one that will be great for a lot of audience interaction -- Dungeons of Dredmor. A farcical Roguelike, this game is hilarious and unforgiving. With skill trees like Fleshsmithing and Emomancy, and enemies like the Fish Paladin and Mustache Spirit, dying is more fun than it's ever been in this sort of game. Lots of choices to be made while playing, and we'll be listening to you to help make our decisions, so tune in and play along with us!
I've probably given the link spiels enough by now, so here they are:

Chulip - Session 7
Tonight at 6pm ET, join us on the Radio PSI TwitchTV channel for more Chulip on Throne of Games! Once again, I forget exactly where we are, but we are getting pretty close to the ending, I think. Not sure we'll finish it tonight, but there's a good chance we'll finish next time.
I probably should've made mention of this in the last newspost, but our appearances are going to become somewhat irregular over the next couple months. Between other events I need to attend and moving into a house (oh man, you guys, I'm about to be a homeowner), things are going to be spotty until after June 15th. But from June 22nd on, everything should be back to normal.
Up front, I can tell you there will be no Throne of Games on the following dates:
As always, you can join the live chat using the built-in Twitch chat as soon as the bridge is active, but I don't have control over that, and so can't control when it gets turned on. If you want in right off the bat, check the following links to join in using your own IRC client, Thinstack's browser-based client, or, the option I most recently discovered, the browser-based client right on Starmen.Net.

Chulip - Session 6
After a few weeks' absence, we're back to Chulip, tonight at 7pm ET!
Unfortunately, since it's been so long, I don't remember enough about where we left off to give a recap of what happened last time. D'oh!
So tune in and find out for yourselves! And if you like, you can join our live chat channel — you can use the built-in chat on the stream page, or you can join #radiopsi on Thinstack IRC via these convenient links: [browser] [client]

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time - Session 1
Join us tonight at 7pm ET for our first session with Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time! Being one of Brendan's favorite games, he has played it a lot; if he hasn't gotten rusty, we may see some impressive game playing tonight. And even if he is a bit rusty, the game does a great job of looking impressive, even if you're just making it by the skin of your teeth. Seriously, this may be one of the most fun-to-watch games ever.
As always, we're on the Radio PSI TwitchTV channel. You can join the live chat there, in your favorite IRC client here, or in the Thinstack browser client here.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
Most people think time is like a river that flows swift and sure in one direction. But I have seen the face of time, and I can tell you, they are wrong — time is an ocean in a storm. You may wonder who I am, and why I say this. Sit down, and I will tell you a tale like none that you've ever heard.
A proud Persian king, promised riches by a traitorous vizier, plunders an Indian city, taking its treasures, and bringing some as a gift to his friend and ally, the Sultan of Azad.
The Prince, bearing an ornate dagger won in the siege, is then tricked by the vizier into unleashing the secret of one of the stolen treasures — an immense hourglass, filled with glowing sand — on the Sultan's palace. Seeing those around him, including his father, consumed by the sand, the Prince flees. Will he seek revenge on the vizier, somehow unharmed by the sand, or will he brave the stormy sea of time itself, and undo what has been done?
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is one of Brendan's very favorites, and as such, he will be on point for this one. Come watch this truly excellent game, and enjoy Brendan's successes and failures, along with Mabry, Daniel and Mark, starting Saturday, March 23rd at 7pm ET.

FFFXI
Boy, there sure is a lot of call for off-weeks lately! Most of my cohosts couldn't make it tonight, so we're back to Final Fantasy XI again, this time joined by another new participant, Rose. Give her a warm greeting, folks!
If you missed the last episode with this game, don't worry about it — we'll be doing a new storyline this time. The original storyline. Rose is new to the game, and we'll be taking her through one of the first major boss fights of the story.
Tune in at 7pm ET on the Radio PSI TwitchTV channel, and join us for live chat using the Thinstack browser-based chat here, using your favorite IRC client here, or just in the in-page chat on Twitch.

Alan Wake - Session 7
At long last, tonight at 7pm ET begins the thrilling conclusion of Alan Wake!
Alan has shut himself in the Dark Place to save his wife, and with only his typewriter and Thomas Zane as a guide, he must fight and write his way back out again with a fitting conclusion that will lock the Darkness away forever.
This is not a Let's Play; it is merely the idea of a Let's Play.
However, this will not be nearly enough to fill out the episode, and all our prior plans for following it have been dashed by technical difficulties. So, dear viewers, we shall be calling upon you to help us decide what we will be playing next. Watch the stream live, join us in IRC here, in your browser, or just in the built-in chat on the Twitch page, and let us know what you want to see! We have a few choices, but not enough time to make a decision we're confident in, which is why we're asking you to pick your poison.
Our (somewhat) prepared selections:
I'm sure excited about tonight, and I hope you are too! See you all there!

Our (somewhat) prepared selections:
- Psychonauts: an item-collecting 3D platformer (a la Banjo Kazooie) from Double Fine, set in a summer camp for the psychically gifted. Full of great writing, strange humor, and just really fun all around.
- Sonic Generations: what many call a return to form for Sonic the Hedgehog, this game is total fanservice, filled with classic stages reimagined in the style of Sonic Adventure, and vice versa. Gotta go fast!
- Odin Sphere: a 2D beat-em-up RPG set in a Norse mythology-inspired world, with several stories occurring simultaneously in parallel. A quite successful experiment in storytelling, and some of the most beautiful sprite art and animation in any game, before or since.
I'm sure excited about tonight, and I hope you are too! See you all there!

Chulip - Session 5
Throne of Games is back to our regularly scheduled playing! Chulip returns tonight at 7pm ET on the Radio PSI TwitchTV channel.
Last time in Chulip, we visited Scarecrow Field and Funny Bone Factory, and towards the end just had a whole lot of really bad timing. Hopefully, today, we can power through all that and actually get things done.
As always, our primary chat host is #radiopsi on Thinstack, which you can access here with your browser, or here with your IRC client, but the chat bridge will connect that to Twitch's built-in chat, so you can use that if you prefer.

Filler is Popular - Who Knew?
As it turns out, due to co-hosts having difficulty being here, we need another week of filler before we get back to our regular schedule. Since last week's visit to Vana'diel was so popular — we had better viewership than on any other episode to date! — we've decided to take this opportunity to play Final Fantasy XI again this week. Daniel and I are in, as every week, and Swavely and the Limey are back to join in the continuing adventure.
If you saw last week's episode, you'll recall we had to cut off in the middle of a rather long cutscene. I'll try to be prepared to replay that scene at the beginning of tonight's session, so y'all won't miss a thing!
As always, we begin at 7pm ET on the Radio PSI TwitchTV channel. Your best bet for chat is #radiopsi on Thinstack IRC — for your convenience, you can point your favorite client here, or you can use the browser-based client here. But Cyan has (and hopefully, will have running) a chat bridge, so you can still participate on the built-in chat on Twitch. Options!

Not So One-Off
So, the last time we had a one-off, we played some story missions in Final Fantasy XI. Now that I have need of a filler week again, we'll be returning to the land of Vana'diel with Daniel, Swavely, and this time, we'll be joined by the Limey, too. We'll be continuing in the "Chains of Promathia" storyline from where we left off last time, so if you caught that episode, you won't have missed a thing — except for everything that came before it.
Throne of Games begins at 7pm ET on the Radio PSI TwitchTV channel. Join our chat by popping this open in your browser, or this in your preferred IRC client.

Chulip - Session 4
Since Brendan and Mabry couldn't make it this week, we're back to Chulip again! Sadly, we're also down a Melissa.
Last week, we kissed the monk, and then got him possessed by the spirit of the temple bell — oh no! Somehow, we must break this curse. More weirdness incoming on tonight's Throne of Games!
Tune in to the Radio PSI TwitchTV channel at 7pm ET, and join our live chat — browser link here, client link here.

Chulip - Session 3
It's Saturday again, and we played Alan Wake last week, so that means it's time for more Chulip! Tune in at 7pm ET on the Radio PSI Twitch TV channel to catch all the strangeness live.
When last we left our protagonist, he'd made his way to Long Life Temple, where he witnessed his promised Love Letter Set being split into its three component parts by a gang of retired teachers. Can he recover the love letter set? Can he kiss everybody while he's at it? Watch tonight to find out!

Alan Wake - Session 6
Tonight at 7pm ET on the Radio PSI TwitchTV channel, Throne of Games will continue Alan Wake.
If you were around for the last session of this game, you'll recall a very strange ending, followed by the credits roll. Tonight, we dive into the DLC epilogue, and hopefully answer some of the nagging questions left by the game's ending.
As always, if you want to join the live chat, we're using #radiopsi on Thinstack IRC — here's a link you can open in your preferred client, and here's the one for the browser-based chat.

Chulip - Session 2
We have cohosts again! John and Melissa are here this week, so we'll be continuing Chulip. When last we left our protagonist, he'd made a lot of headway smooching the locals, but he stands accused of placing a boulder on the railroad tracks, blocking traffic into and out of the city. Meanwhile, trouble is brewing among the denizens of the underground...

One-Off Week?
Hey, everybody! Sorry about missing two weeks in a row. I think I need to start making post-show blog posts, regardless of whether I've got an upload to go with it or not, because there's a lot of stuff slipping through the cracks. The 29th, the entire ToG crew were occupied elsewhere, and on the fifth, John, Melissa and I were terribly sick. I hate missing two weeks in a row, but sometimes, it can't be helped.
And as soon as I write up this post, the original plan gets canned. Without any ready-to-go one-off plan, I'm gonna have to pull something out of my ass. Could be fun, could be disastrous, who knows?
As usual, we're starting at 7pm ET on the Radio PSI TwitchTV channel. If you want to join the live chat, we're active in #radiopsi on Thinstack IRC. For your convenience, you can point your preferred IRC client here, or you can open it in your browser here.
