Last week, I made it into Valestein Castle, now overrun with zombies, apparently thanks to Chester unleashing the power of the four statues on Count McGuire. There was so much 3D platforming. I hate 3D platforming. But I appear to be past that part now, mercifully.

Thursday Throne - Ys: The Oath in Felghana - Session 2

So, last week, the adventure began! Adol and Dogi arrived in Felghana, but found that things weren't quite as nice as Dogi remembered. A Romun lord had taken up residence in the country, demanding tribute and obedience, and Dogi's childhood friend, Chester, had taken up arms in his service. Meanwhile, the wilderness was overrun with monsters, as had the mines after they uncovered an ancient ruin buried deep beneath the earth.

The session ended in the pagan ruins in the forest, Adol has his first showdown with Chester. Chester is no pushover; after several tries, I still wasn't able to beat him. Hopefully, that doesn't continue and occupy the whole session tonight.

Thursday Throne - Ys: The Oath in Felghana

This place does bring back memories. Hard to believe it's really been eight years since I left...

Oh man... What the hell happened here?

Two years after they first began traveling together, Adol and Dogi arrive in Felghana, Dogi's home. But they soon find danger afoot, and set out to face what would threaten Felghana.

Ys III: Wanderers from Ys was the Adventure of Link of its series – a sidescrolling platformer among top-down action-RPGs. The Oath in Felghana is a remake, taking the story of Wanderers and putting it into a game more in line with the rest, with lush environments to explore and more ways to handle monsters than just charging in swinging. (Of course, this is an Ys game – charging in swinging is always an option.)
